Speaking as someone who remembers the horrific rulebooks we used to get for Avalon Hill and SPI wargames, and slogged his way through the early DBR/DBA rulesets, the Zombie rulebooj hoo-hah has been blown waaay out of all proportion. If you were coming to it from a background of Monopoly and Cluedo, then yes - you'd struggle. But if you are in any way a "gamer" you'll have no real issues at all. Yes, it could be clearer, but it's perfectly adequate to pick up and be playing within a few minutes - especailly if you run the (perforce rather dull) training scenario first.I've played it a few times solo, and its great. As tense as playing it with a group, and there's no changes you need to make to the game for it to work. 100% solitaire suitability.
If you can afford it, go for it now. Aside from maybe a rearranged rulebook, I can't see there being any changes to the game, so maximise the length of time you could be owning the game and having fun!
