Glad you got them sorted, another very good one for future reference if you ever need it is Fairy Power Spray. The issue you've got is Army Painter primer so thought I'd leave some advice on using this stuff. I use this stuff a lot but you have to be VERY careful with it. Only use it when conditions are perfect (no fog, no humidity etc.). You can use it when it's cold but warm the can up first (either put it on a radiator or in a bowl of warm water) and make sure you shake the hell out of it (for a full two minutes, shaking it every which way but loose!). And then follow the instructions on the can. You have to spray pretty close (within 15cm). It feels very strange at first because with most primers you spray from further away but Army Painter stuff dries VERY quickly so if you're spraying from further away if actually starts to dry before it hits the miniatures and this is why you get the grainy effect. You have to give miniatures a couple of thin coats with it but a good bit of advice that I was given is that it's almost impossible to get all the cracks and crevices primed with Army Painter before it starts getting too thick on the easily accessible areas so don't try. Just use a thinned down paint afterwards to get in those bits, they're the bits that are in shadow anyway. A final bit of advice I would give is DO NOT use Army Painter varnish. It might work well over quickshade (which its designed for) but it is far too temperamental and can often leave a white dust over your miniatures. That is very annoying after you've finished painting them!
On a side note - ace painting, Doug looks great! Have you finished any of the others and can we see some pictures please?
